Buying her a bra can feel like more pressure than it should. Sizes change fast, shops rarely cater for this age, and she may not want to talk about it at all. These five tips keep it simple.
1. Let her lead the conversation
Some girls are excited, some would rather not discuss it. Ask what she wants rather than deciding for her: padding or no padding, plain or printed, how she wants it to feel under her uniform. A bra she has a say in is one she’ll actually wear.
2. Measure, and measure again
Guessing is the most common reason teen bras don’t fit. Measure her band and bust at home with our size guide, or book a fitting if she’d rather someone else did it. Her size can change within a few months, so re-measure whenever a bra starts to feel wrong.
3. Check the fit, not just the label
Sizing varies between brands, so the fit matters more than the number. The band should sit level and snug on the loosest hook, the cups should be smooth with no gaps or spilling, and the straps should stay put without digging in. Our guide to wirefree bras for teens walks through the full fit check.
4. Choose for her actual day
Think about where she’ll wear it. For school, light modesty padding and a smooth finish under a white shirt make a real difference. For PE and sport, a proper sports bra cuts down on bounce and distraction. If she has a smaller band and a larger cup, our fuller cup range is made for exactly that. Every bra in our current collections is wirefree, so comfort through a full day comes built in.
5. Let her choose the style
Once the fit is right, the rest is hers. Colours, prints, and whether she wants things to match at all. If she likes to mix & match, our tips for building a drawer she loves are a good place to start.
Start with the basics
Two or three bras that fit well will do more for her comfort and confidence than a drawer full of almost-right ones. Browse our teen bras to find her fit.
